Supporting the Project / Get Involved

How the project is raising funds:

To raise funds for the Improvement of Education in Q´ero, the Project is:

  1. Sponsoring three expeditions in 2012.
    1. Walking with Inkarri – An Expedition to the High Mountains of Q´ero May 25 - June 3, 2012
    2. Q'ero Marcachea – An Expedition to the Holy Mountain of the Incas
      May 4 - 14, 2012 - September 2012 ( dates to be determined)

    Three opportunities to visit this beautiful, remote community, meet its families and children, do some hands-on chores like painting the school´s classrooms and putting together a pre-fabricated greenhouse, playing soccer with the young boys and, of course, eating frersh trout from Marcachea´s river.

    The budget includes a $ 100.- tax-deductible contribution for the Project, for which participants will receive a receipt from Green Empowerment of Portland, OR, who are administering incoming donations.

  2. Soliciting donations and in-kind gifts from foundations, corporations and individuals inside Peru and internationally.
  3. Working in collaboration with public institutions in the Province of Cusco and nationally, to obtain their financial participation in the Project.

Get Involved:

  1. by registering for one of the Programs.
  2. by making a direct financial contribution to Q´ero – Development Assistance, announcing your intention to make a gift by writing to:
    1. Green Empowerment
      Anna Garwood, Executive Director : anna@greenempowerment.org
  3. by sponsoring your own fundraisers within your networks and transferring net income ( after adjusting for costs) to :
    1. Q´ero – Development Assistance
    2. c/o The International Rotary Club of Cusco (see above), or
    3. c/o Green Empowerment ( see above)
  4. by making In-Kind Donations of:
    school supplies ( notebooks, pens, pencils, art supplies, etc.) and toys in good condition
  5. by :
    • connecting the Project with University-Hospitals interested in sending small teams of physicians / nurses into Q´ero;
    • identifying agricultural professionals to help build greenhouses, shelters for animals in adverse weather, etc.;
    • Professionals to train new mothers in infant care and nutrition;
    • Dentists;
    • Dermatologists experienced in infection-related skin problems;
    • Veterinarians with expertise in the care of llamas and alpacas;
    • all to assist in Q´ero for short periods of time ( 1 – 2 weeks).
  6. by connecting the Project with NGOs potentially interested in supporting the Education Project.
  7. The Q´ero Nation is aware of claims of contributions to their people, without any evidence that they actually occurred. They have therefore asked Q´ero - Development Assistance to develop a Register of all donations made to Q´ero in the past 3 years. If you have made a contribution, please let us know and we will list you in the Register. This Register will be published and continuously updated on our Blog.
