About Us
Barbara Perrins came to Peru for the first time in 1994. She met some of the Q´ero elders at that time and soon a great friendship began to develop between them. She has returned to Peru many times since, organizing groups interested in the traditions of the Q´eros through her company, Cultural Immersion Travel. Juan Nuñez del Prado and Juan Murillo guided these groups and, together with Q´ero masters, introduced them to their ancestral knowledge.
Juan Murillo has been working with the Q´ero since 1984, initially accompanying them to various offices where they had business matters to settle. He subsequently worked with Barbara, Juan Nuñez del Prado and their many groups, each time intensifying his friendship with the Q´ero and finally gaining their complete confidence.
In March of 2007, when they knew Barbara was in Cusco, the Q´ero asked for a meeting with Juano and her. After discussing the urgent needs of their Nation´s people, the Q´ero leaders formally petitioned them to bring education and electrification to their communities.
In June of that year Barbara made the decision to move to Cusco so that she and Juano could begin to develop the present Project, Q´ero – Development Assistance, with the collaboration of the Q´ero Nation itself as well as all appropriate regional and provincial authorities.
